Our appointed European Athletics jury has selected a final shortlist of 4 stunning works of art from the numerous entries that were submitted from across Europe these past two months.
The voting for the winning work of art is already underway through our European Athletics Facebook page. The piece with the most 'likes' will become the main prize for the 2015 European Athletics Women’s Leaderships Awards.
The winning artist will receive a commission of 1,000 CHF plus a 16GB iPad mini as a reward. In addition, the artwork with the most votes will be professionally reproduced so that copies can be presented to the award winners at the European Athletics Golden Tracks awards in Lausanne, Switzerland, on 17 October and at national ceremonies in the following months.
The voting closes at 12:00 CET on Monday 31 August.
Background
The biennial European Athletics Women’s Leadership Awards was created in 2009 to recognise and celebrate women leaders in the sport of athletics.
Each of European Athletics’ 50 Member Federations is asked to identify one winner for her work and accomplishments as a coach, or volunteer, or administrator, or elected official … anything other than for success in competition. The main criterion is “a significant contribution that serves as an example of leadership and other values of the sport of athletics”.
