  • Voting is open for European Athlete of the Month: July 2017

The European Athlete of the Month voting for July is underway across our European Athletics Twitter and Facebook pages.

The voting closes at 12:00 CET on Friday 4 August. You can cast your vote on Twitter by retweeting the graphic of the athlete for whom you wish to vote for or by liking or sharing the corresponding graphic on Facebook. You can also vote for more than one athlete.

The votes across Twitter and Facebook are combined in order to determine who will be named male and female European Athlete of the Month.

Five male and five female athletes are nominated purely based on their performances in the previous month. However, no athlete who has served a two-year doping ban can be nominated for the award.

The European Athlete of the Month initiative was launched in January 2007 and is designed to recognise outstanding performances set by European athletes.

Norway’s Karsten Warholm and Greece’s Ekaterini Stefanidi were voted male and female European Athletes of the Month for June.

Warholm made an exceptional breakthrough in the 400m hurdles, winning on home soil in the Oslo Diamond League in a national record of 48.25 before wins in the Stockholm Diamond League and at the European Team Championships First League in Vaasa while Stefanidi cleared a world-leading mark of 4.85m in the Rome Diamond League.
