Great Britain has named a 102-strong team for the Berlin 2018 European Athletics Championships from 7-12 August.
The British team includes two individual European champions from Amsterdam in 2016: Dina Asher-Smith and Martyn Rooney. Greg Rutherford was hoping to make his farewell to major competition in the German capital but the two-time European long jump champion has been struggling with an ankle injury this season and ruled himself out of selection contention.
Asher-Smith will be defending her 200m title in Berlin but she will also be contesting the 100m as well as the 4x100m relay. Asher-Smith leads the 2018 European lists in both events with 10.92 in the 100m and 22.25 in the 200m. Not since the 2014 World U20 Championships in Eugene where she won a sprint double as Asher-Smith contested both individual events in a major championships.

Rooney lines up in Berlin as the reigning two-time champion in the individual 400m and he is also part of a strong British team in the 4x400m relay.
The British team also includes four other athletes who lead the 2018 European lists: Zharnel Hughes (100m, 4x100m), Matthew Hudson-Smith (400m, 4x400m), Laura Muir (1500m) and Lorraine Ugen (long jump). Muir was initially planning to contest both the 800m and 1500m but she has opted solely for the latter due to a slight Achilles injury.
At 18, European U20 silver medallist Molly Caudery is the youngest member of the team and is one of nine athletes set to make their senior international debuts.
Great Britain finished third on the medal table in Amsterdam in 2016 behind Germany and Poland with five gold medals and 16 in total. There were also gold medals in Amsterdam in the men’s 4x100m relay and women’s 4x400m relay.
