Many of the European athletes who struck gold at the IAAF World Championships London 2017 this summer will be present at this year’s Golden Tracks gala.
This year’s star-studded and glittering occasion will take place on Saturday 14 October in the Lithuanian capital Vilnius.
The Golden Tracks gala and awards ceremony will be shown live on LTV (Lithuanian National Television) from 2100-2200 local time.
It will also be streamed live on the European Athletics website home page and on Facebook at the European Athletics page.
A number of the men’s and women’s nominees for the 2017 Golden Tracks awards, which honours the European Athletes of the Year and Rising Stars, have said they will be there. In the women's category alone for European Athlete of the Year Mariya Lasitskene, Ekaterini Stefanidi, Anita Wlodarczyk and Inês Henriques will be in Vilnius.
Local World Champion Andrius Gudžius, a nominee in the men's European Athlete of the Year category, will also attend the awards.
Meanwhile, Lithuania’s 2017 European indoor champion Airinė PalÅ¡ytė will be on-stage as the co-host of the awards.
A number of other Lithuanian athletics stars from the recent past will also be recognised during the Awards Night
- 2000 and 2004 Olympic discus champion Virgilijus Alekna.
- Austra Skujytė , the 2004 Olympics heptathlon silver medallist and 2012 Olympics bronze medallist.
- 1992 Olympic discus champion Romas Ubartas
- Vaclavas Kidykas, the 1986 European discus bronze medallist, four-time Olympian and coach to Andrius Gudzius.

We understand and appreciate the dedication and passion they give to our sport and so we would like to recognise their feats at our Golden Tracks awards,” said European Athletics President Svein Arne Hansen.
