Organised in collaboration between European Athletics, the Finnish Athletics Federation and Tanhuvaara Sports Institute, the seminar will offer coaching methods for top and amateur athletes and coaches.
Finland’s Petteri Piironen coach to Kenya’s newly crowned world champion, Julius Yego, and silver medallist, Ihab Abdelrahman of Egypt, will provide secrets to his success. Germany’s Thomas Röhler along with his coach Harro Schwuchow, will also be present in Finland to offer details about their training methods.
The following persons will participate in demonstrations and the concluding panel discussion: Javelin-throwers Antti Ruuskanen, Kimmo Kinnunen, Thomas Röhler and Mika Lehtimäki
The seminar organiser Jarmo Hirvonen, coach to the current European champion, Antti Ruuskanen, looks forward to having such important javelin names under the same roof.
“We have the opportunity to discuss and share ideas altogether. We will address important changes for the next generation of athletes,” Hirvonen said.
The seminar remains open to representatives wishing to participate: coaches, athletes and also in the areas of physiotherapy and medicine.
Organised every second year in Tanhuvaara, the seminar has involved all throwing disciplines in the past, but this year the focus is solely on the javelin.
