European Athletics President Hansjorg Wirz and Director General Christian Milz attended the annual IAAF Area Associations meeting which took place in Monaco on 2-3 February.
The majority of the first day focused on a Continental Athletics Strategic Plan (CASP).
The objective of CASP is to empower Area Associations to develop athletics according to their respective level of responsibility.
Each of the six areas presented and discussed the progress they have made throughout the year with respect to this plan.
The split of responsibilities between IAAF and Area Associations was also outlined.
The latter part of the afternoon was dedicated to the subjects of competition, followed by development and Member Federation relations.
The second and final day of the Area Associations meeting covered the topic of the Continental marketing programme and corporate social responsibilities.
