  • Education Commission wraps up with meeting in Darmstadt

Meeting for final occasion of the 2011-2015 mandate period in Darmstadt, Germany, on 23 and 24 January, the European Athletics Education Commission addressed an agenda that included an evaluation of European Athletics’ eight education measures in 2014 and ideas for improving the programme in the future.

Chaired by Council member Frank Hensel, the seven member commission identified the March European Athletics CEO Conference in Copenhagen, Denmark, as one of the highlights of 2014, recommending that efforts to tailor the contents of measures to meet the needs of different groups of participants that proved popular at the conference be continued and expanded in the future.

Also evaluated were the five measures staged by the IAAF Regional Development Centre in Moscow and the four conferences supported by the European Athletics Coaching Summit Series.

The meeting concluded with a set of recommendations for the Executive Board. These covered specific contents for future educational measures, the general structure of measures and how the commission works with other commissions and bodies within European Athletics and with the IAAF, which provides financial support for the programme through the RDC Moscow.
