Some of Poland's most bemedalled athletes in recent years have been confirmed to compete at the Orlen Cup in Lodz, a European Athletics Indoor Permit Meeting, on 11 February.

The focus of attention as far as the home fans are concerned will be on the in-field and on two head-to-heads in particular. Reigning European indoor champion Pawel Wojciechowski and world outdoor bronze medallist Piotr Lisek are both confirmed for the pole vault and European champion Michal Haratyk faces European silver medallist Konrad Bukowiecki in the shot put.

Twelve months ago, Wojciechowski and Lisek shared the honours at 5.80m after recording identical cards in the pole vault while Bukowiecki won the shot put with 20.95m ahead of Germany’s David Storl with 20.52m.

Kamila Licwinko, the 2014 world indoor champion, will also compete in the high jump.

*The story has been edited to reflect that Ewa Swoboda will not be competing at the Orlen Cup in Lodz. She will not be competing in any indoor competitions in 2020. Paulina Guba will also miss the indoor season.
