Norway’s Sondre Nordstad Moen and Great Britain’s Harriet Knowles-Jones have been voted male and female European Athlete of the Month for December.
Moen dominated the voting which took place across the European Athletics Facebook and Twitter pages. The 26-year-old produced a breakthrough performance in the Fukuoka Marathon on 3 February where he claimed victory in a European record of 2:05:48, becoming the first European athlete in history to break the 2:06-barrier.
Moen finished ahead of European U23 cross country champion Jimmy Gressier from France and Swiss 10km record-holder Julien Wanders in the voting.
