  • Tickets in high demand as day packages go on sale

With still more than half a year to go before the European Athletics Championships Zürich 2014, a third of all tickets available for purchase have been sold.

Day package sales to the general public for the six-day athletics festival (12-17 August 2014) go on sale Monday 4 November.

The link to buy tickets is here.

The tickets sale campaign has been extremely successful so far.

In Autumn 2012, transferable week packages became available, and during the last three weeks members of clubs and federations, as well as Zürich 2014 “Friends” – have been able to secure their tickets in a special pre-sale of day packages.

So far, 41,000 tickets (of 120,000 overall) have been sold.

20,000 day packages are available for each day of competition.

“Sales figures have far exceeded our expectations. Our income from ticket sales has already surpassed the total generated by Barcelona 2010, an event that did a great job in terms of numbers of tickets sold,' explained Patrick K. Magyar, CEO of Zürich 2014.

“And we have actually just started to promote Zürich 2014 to a broad public audience,”

“This confirms that our ticket options, which include public transport fares in Switzerland, are attractive.”

Many international visitors
Zürich 2014 will be a major international event with many international visitors, as ticket orders indicate.

One third of all tickets have been ordered from abroad, mostly from countries with a large athletics community, such as Germany, France, and the United Kingdom.

5,000 international visitors are expected to attend the competition at the stadium each day.

Exciting highlights on all six days of competition
Prices for Zürich 2014 day packages range from CHF 85 to CHF 240.

They include public transport fares for the journey from any destination in Switzerland to Letzigrund Stadium.

On the first four days of competition (Tuesday to Friday), day packages will consist of two individual tickets for a morning and an evening session.

On Saturday and Sunday, there will be an afternoon session at Letzigrund Stadium.

The championship timetable schedules several final events each day.

All in all, 42 finals will be staged at Letzigrund Stadium.

The official opening ceremony will be held after the first evening session on Tuesday 12 August 2014 – an additional highlight for stadium visitors of the first day of the championships.

UBS Swiss Fan Corner: Tickets at reduced price for biggest fans of Swiss athletes
For fans of Swiss athletics, the UBS Swiss Fan Corner will be the perfect spot to cheer their heroes.

Instead of CHF 125, day packages for seats in two sectors at the north end of Letzigrund Stadium will cost CHF 85 only.

Fans sitting in this area will be supporting local athletes with simple choreography and with red and white signs.
