  • Voting is open for European Athlete of the Month: February 2018

The European Athlete of the Month voting for February is underway across our Twitter and Facebook pages.

The voting closes at 12:00 CET on Tuesday 6 March. You can cast your vote on Twitter by retweeting the graphic of the athlete for whom you wish to vote for or by liking or sharing the corresponding graphic on Facebook. You can also vote for more than one athlete. Please note: only likes and retweets cast on the main image will be counted.

The votes across Twitter and Facebook are combined in order to determine who will be named male and female European Athlete of the Month.

Five male and five female athletes are nominated purely based on their performances in the previous month. However, no athlete who has served a two-year doping ban can be nominated for the award.

The European Athlete of the Month initiative was launched in January 2007 and is designed to recognise outstanding performances set by European athletes.

Last month's winners were Norway's Karsten Warholm and Ireland's Phil Healy. Warholm opened his season in his home town of Ulsteinvik where he lowered his national indoor 400m record to 45.88 while Healy sliced more than one second off her lifetime best with a 52.08 clocking in Vienna.
