  • Voting is open for European Athlete of the Month: May 2017

The European Athlete of the Month voting for May is underway across our European Athletics Twitter and Facebook pages.

The voting closes at 12:00 CET on Wednesday 7 June. You can cast your vote on Twitter by retweeting the graphic of the athlete for whom you wish to vote for or by liking or sharing the corresponding graphic on Facebook. You can also vote for more than one athlete.

The votes across Twitter and Facebook are combined in order to determine who will be named male and female European Athlete of the Month.

Five male and five female athletes have been nominated purely based on their performances in the previous month. However, no athlete who has previously served a two-year doping ban can be nominated for the award.

The European Athlete of the Month initiative was launched in January 2007 and is designed to recognise outstanding performances set by European athletes.

Last month’s winners were Sweden’s Armand Duplantis and Norway’s Amalie Iuel. Duplantis cleared a world U20 pole vault record of 5.90m at the Austin Relays in Texas while Iuel clocked a Norwegian 400m hurdles record and European-leading time of 55.38.
