Rafal Augustyn and Matej Toth both landed brilliant victories at the 33rd Dudince race walking meeting on Saturday.
Poland's Augustyn produced a world-leading time as he won the 50km while Slovakian Toth delivered a personal best in front of more than just a home crowd.
As he crossed the line in 1:19:48, Toth said: 'From 8km I was sure I would break 1:20 and my whole family witnessed it.'
Not just because of the time, it was one of the best results of 31-year-old Toth's career as he beat Australia's Jared Tallent, the double Olympic 50km silver medallist and Olympic 20km bronze medallist, by almost three minutes.
Tallent was second in 1:22:45 ahead of Caio Bonfim, of Brazil, who was third in 1:23:48 with South Africa's Lebogang Shange fourth in 1:24.09.
Pacing himself over the first half of the race, Toth made his mark between 10km and 15km as he surged away to a superb win.
He plans to compete in the longer walk at the European Athletics Championships in Zurich in August and this performance will do wonders for both his confidence and his preparation.
Victory at this European Athletics Race Walking Permit meeting - a year on from finishing third - came in a time which makes him the fourth Slovakian athlete to break 1:20:00.
In Zurich he is likely to face the challenge over the longer race of Augustyn, who was in outstanding form, too, as he won the 50km in 3:45:32 to repeat his victory here from 2010.
Augustyn's win secured him the title and he said: 'It was very tough for me today, I had some stomach difficulties. My chances to qualify for the European Championships in Zurich are now bigger.'
There was a string of personal best times behind him as China's Wang Zhendong was second in 3:47:18, with Germany's Carl Dohmann in third in 3:51:32 and Tadas Suskevicius, of Lithuania, fourth in 3:51:58. Finland's Veli-Matti Partanen, sixth in 3:54:54, and the Czech Republic champion Lukas Gdula, 10th in 4:01:52, also had lifetime best performances.
Spain's Ainhoa Pinedo won the women's 20km in 1:34:56, beating Slovakia's Maria Galikova, second in 1:36:39, and Hungary's Viktoria Madarasz, third in 1:37:00.
And there was victory for Hungary in the Junior 10km as Bence Venyercsan won the men's race in 43:40, while Anezka Drahotova, of the Czech Republic, took the women's event in 46:44.
