  • European Athletics Competition Commission meets in Sofia

The European Athletics Competition Commission concluded its three-day meeting in Sofia, Bulgaria, on Sunday.

The commission, led by European Athletics First Vice President José Luis De Carlos, reviewed and analysed the progress of European Athletics' events and European Athletics' Cross Country Permit Circuit 2013/2014 and Indoor Meetings 2014.

The commission also studied the applications for the 2014/2015 European Athletics Cross Country Meetings and the agenda of the One Day Meetings Seminar to take place on the 5-6 April in Barcelona, Spain.

The appointed working groups presented their reports and recommendations to the commission on the topics of Calendar, Nominations and measures related to the European Athletics Panels, Event Presentation, qualification for the European Championships, Timetable principles and other principles related with technology in competition such as VDM and transponders.

Competition Commission members Mikhail Butov, Pierce O'Callaghan, Jean-Pierre Schoebel, Mikaela Ingberg, Dobromir Karamarinov, Ivica Matijevic, Toralf Nilsson, Frank O.Hamm, Anna Riccardi, Jorge Salcedo, and European Athletics Competition Manager Célia Mendes were present during the meeting.

For the topics related to the evaluation of the Cross Country season 2013/2014 and the future meetings applications and calendar, the Competition Commission received the recommendations of the Cross Country Commission that also met in Sofia on 21 March and led by Council Member Jorge Salcedo.

Cross Country Commission members Jos Van Roy, Luis Miguel Landa, Massimo Magnani, Ian Stewart and the Competition Consultant Aditya Kumar attended the meeting.
